Update on Serial Robbery Suspect Arrested
May 26, 2006 -- A suspect believed
responsible for committing at least 10 robberies has been arrested
and charged in several of the incidents that occurred in the cities
of Houston and Bellaire.
The suspect, Carlos
Hoyos-Martinez (H/m, DOB: 12-19-70), is arrested and charged
with two counts of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon in
the 180th State District Court and one count of aggravated robbery
with a deadly weapon is the 232nd State District Court. Two charges
are for robberies that occurred in the city of Houston and one
charge is for a robbery that occurred in the city of Bellaire.
HPD Robbery Division Sergeant D. Silva reported:
On May 16, the suspect went inside a dentist's
office at 9641 Hillcroft and robbed a female at gunpoint of her
jewelry and an office laptop computer. He was seen leaving the
location in a white Honda with Texas license plates 990GMZ. During
the investigation, robbery investigators tracked the suspect's
vehicle to a hotel in southwest Houston and arrested him after
he attempted to leave in the car. The suspect has been identified
in at least nine robberies in Houston and one in Bellaire.
The suspect is charged or believed to be responsible
in the following robberies.
* May 11 at 7039 Southwest Freeway
* May 11 at 8881 Bellaire
* May 13 at 9410 Harwin
* May 14 at 9780 Hempstead
* May 15 at 5410 Shepherd
* May 16 at 9641 Hillcroft, 8400 Chimney Rock, 5599 Weslayan and
5930 Renwick
Investigators believe Hoyos-Martinez may be responsible
for more robberies and
are asking anyone who may have been victimized by the suspect
to contact the
