Incident at 8334 Gulf Freeway

May 20, 2006 -- Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 8334 Gulf Freeway shortly after midnight on Friday (May 19).

The victim is identified as Jose G. Perez, 26. He suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the torso and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J.W. Belk and Officer T.W. Miller reported:

Mr. Perez had gone to dinner at a local seafood restaurant with his wife and two children. After finishing dinner, the family was walking to their car in an adjacent parking lot when approached by an unknown Hispanic male suspect who fired several shots at Mr. Perez. The suspect made no demands for money, virtually eliminating robbery as a motive. A nearby surveillance camera system may have captured the shooting.
