Incident at 1111 Berry Road

May 17, 2006 -- Houston police are investigating the apparent beating death of a man at 1111 Berry Road on Saturday (May 13).

The victim, identified as Roberto Cepeda, 52, of 1206 Duff, was pronounced dead at Memorial Hermann Hospital.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant P.C. Motard and Officer C.P. Abbondandolo reported:

A witness discovered Cepeda lying near the door of his business and called for help. HPD officers and HFD paramedics responded to the scene and Cepeda was transported the hospital. Doctors determined he had suffered blunt force trauma to the head. Investigators learned Cepeda had a large sum of money on him when admitted. A motive in this case has not been determined.
