Incident at 12127 Redfern

May 2, 2006 -- Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 12127 Redfern about 10:45 p.m. on Monday (May 1).

The victim is identified as John Edward Hawkins, 36, of 2816 Rosewood.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants M. McStravick and C. Howard and Officers T. Andrade and P. Yochum reported:

Mr. Hawkins had arranged to meet a friend at the friend's house. He had arrived at the location before the friend, and at some point went to the side of the house. Hawkins was shot multiple times by an unknown suspect(s) and pronounced dead at the scene.

A small white compact car with tinted windows was seen in the vicinity soon after the shooting.
