Traffic Incident at 6200 South Loop East

March 1, 2006 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 6200 South Loop East about 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday (Feb. 28).

The identity of the victim is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant J. Ogden and Officers J. Tippy and R. Breiding reported:

The driver of a motor vehicle traveling west on the South Loop East struck a pedestrian who ran into the main lanes of traffic. The unidentified pedestrian, who was pronounced dead at the scene, failed to yield the right-of-way to a motor vehicle. At this time, alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the accident. No charges have been filed at this time.
