Incident at 500 West Mount Houston
June 18, 2006 -- Houston police
are investigating the shooting of a man at 500 West Mount Houston
about 4:10 p.m. on Saturday (June 17).
The victim is identified as Bertin Gonzalez Jr.,
17, of 11500 Green Plaza #709. He suffered a gunshot wound to
the head and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where
he is listed in critical condition.

reported:
According to witnesses, Gonzalez was driving
a vehicle, occupied by two friends, westbound in the 500 block
of West Mount Houston when he pulled a handgun out of the glove
compartment. He began playing with the weapon and pulled the trigger
several times, but the gun did not fire. Gonzalez then chambered
a round, put the gun to his head and pulled the trigger again
shooting himself. The vehicle's passengers were able to maneuver
the vehicle to a stop in a parking lot and call for assistance.
