Update on Incident at 8310 Jensen Drive
June 14, 2006 -- Houston police
are investigating the death of a child following a robbery at
8310 Jensen Drive about 10:50 p.m. on Tuesday (June 13).
The victim has been identified as Stephanie Garcia,
two years old (tomorrow), of 2015 Vance. She suffered a skull
fracture and trauma throughout her body.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeants L. A. Flores,
C. W. Howard and Officer T. Andrade reported:
Officers received a call to a failure to stop
and render aid accident in the 7700 block of Jensen. Officers
arrived and discovered the child was run over during the course
of a robbery at 8310 Jensen Drive.
Investigators learned two suspects robbed Stephanie's
parents at gunpoint and then yanked her, the parents and three
siblings out of their Chevrolet Suburban. After being yanked out
of the vehicle, Stephanie became frightened and ran. As the suspects
fled in the Suburban, they ran over the child. Stephanie was taken
to Lyndon B. Johnson Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced
dead.
Investigators are looking for two suspects, both
described as black males. One suspect is 25 to 28 years of age,
5 feet 8 to 5 feet 10 inches tall, and 160 to 170 pounds with
a slim build. He had short black curly hair and was wearing a
dark blue baseball cap, white T-shirt and blue pants. The other
suspect is 24 to 25 years of age, 5 feet 5 to 5 feet 7 inches
tall, and 140 to 150 pounds with a chubby build. He had short
black hair and was wearing a red baseball cap, short-sleeved white
Polo shirt pulled over another shirt, black baggy pants and white
tennis shoes. The vehicle stolen, a 1993 white Chevrolet Suburban,
was later recovered about 7 a.m. at 6100 Morrow.
