Incident at 1900 Hardy
June 9, 2006 -- A man found
severely beaten at 1900 Hardy about 6 a.m. on April 19 has died
from his injuries.
The victim, identified as Santos Guien, 83, of
1602 Noble died Thursday (June 8). He was being cared for at his
residence by health care workers. The Harris County Medical Examiner's
office will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant H.R. Hernandez
and Officer D.S. Vasquez reported:
On April 19, the victim was walking and collecting
cans around the neighborhood near 1900 Hardy when four Hispanic
males and one Hispanic female confronted him. The suspects, who
were inside a gray pickup truck, then assaulted the victim, who
fell to the ground and struck his head on the pavement. After
the assault, the victim managed to walk a few blocks before collapsing.
He was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital, where he was
comatose. The suspects fled in the pickup truck. There is no known
motive for the assault.
