Incident at 4700 South Kirkwood
July 5, 2006 -- Houston police
homicide investigators are seeking the identity / identities of
suspect(s) wanted in an auto theft / kidnapping incident at 4700
South Kirkwood at approximately 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 4, 2006.
Homicide Division Sergeant J. H. Roberts and
Officer C. Y. Park report:
Ricardo Forbes reported he parked a Nissan Pathfinder
SUV near the entrance to the Coral Reef Apartments and went inside
an apartment to retrieve some items. Forbes said he left the vehicle
running with his 23-month-old child, Kaerich Forbes, inside. Forbes
returned to the location where he parked the vehicle to find it
and his son missing. Information has also been received alleging
this SUV was involved in a hit-and-run accident just before 8
p.m. in southwest Harris County near the South Kirkwood location.
An investigation commenced and an Amber Alert
was issued for the vehicle and the toddler.
At approximately 1 a.m. on Wednesday, July 5,
2006, a wrecker driver located the vehicle on U.S. 59 North near
Greens Road with little Kaerich Forbes inside. Although Kaerich
appeared to be unharmed, he was evaluated by Houston Fire Department
EMS personnel and then reunited with his parents at HPD Headquarters
at 1200 Travis.
An investigation into this incident will continue
by the Houston Police Department and the Harris County Sheriff's
Office.
