Traffic Incident at 15700 Katy Freeway

February 11, 2006 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 15700 Katy Freeway service road about 8:15 p.m. on Friday (Feb. 10).

The victim is identified as Kenneth Michael Will, 50, of 3234 Tynemeadow in Katy.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant R.A. Gonzales and Officers J. Tippy and R. Stafford reported:

The driver of a Ford F-150 truck was traveling westbound on the service road of the Katy Freeway at a high rate of speed. He struck a curb, lost control of his vehicle and collided with a wooden light pole. The force of the collision broke the pole in half and caused extensive damage to the victim's vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. It appears no other vehicles were involved.

The investigation is continuing.
