Incident at 4500 North Freeway
February 3, 2006 -- A male suspect
who fired shots at several motorists was fatally shot by officers
from multiple law enforcement agencies in the 4500 block of the
North Freeway about 2:30 p.m. on Thursday (Feb. 2).
The suspect, Jeremy Roberson (b/m, DOB: 2-8-77),
was pronounced dead at the scene.
HPD Homicide Division Officers T. S. Tyler and
M. S. Walker reported:
The suspect led multiple law enforcement agencies
on a vehicle pursuit after kidnapping his girlfriend and her four-year-old
daughter, who were both inside the fleeing vehicle. During the
chase, the suspect fired a weapon at officers and another motorist
who was traveling on the freeway. The chase ended after the vehicle
rear-ended a truck on the freeway and rolled to a stop. As the
officers approached the vehicle, the suspect was still holding
the weapon. After the suspect refused to obey their verbal commands
to drop the weapon, officers fatally shot him.
As is customary in all officer-involved shootings
in the city limits, the incident is being investigated by the
HPD Homicide and Internal Affairs Divisions and the Harris County
District Attorney's office.
