Traffic Incident at S. Sam Houston Tollway and U. S. 59

August 26, 2006 -- The Houston Police Department, Mobility Incident Management Division, is investigating a traffic incident resulting in the death of one person that
occurred at the intersection of the S. Sam Houston Tollway and U.S. 59 at 12:14 a.m. on August 26, 2006.

Accident investigation Officer S.M. Johnson reports:

On August 26, 2006, at approximately 12:14 a.m., a late-model pickup traveling eastbound on S. Sam Houston Tollway service road left the roadway and struck a
support pillar, killing the driver instantly.

The identity of the deceased and the cause of death will be determined by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office and will be disclosed after notification is made to family members.

This accident will remain under investigation by the Mobility Incident Management Division.
