Incident at 13413 Duluth

August 25, 2006 -- Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting deaths of two females, one adult and one juvenile, at 13413 Duluth about 11:30 p.m. on Thursday (August 24).

The victims, identified as Arleene Avalos, 8, and Alma Avalos, 26, both of 13413 Duluth, suffered a gunshot wound and died at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant L.A. Flores and Officer E.R. Carstens reported:

Officers responded to a shooting at the above location, where constables from Precinct 3 were already at the location. The victims were found deceased in a front bedroom of the residence. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots earlier in the day, however did not see anyone leaving the area.
