Incident at 11900 Bellaire

August 12, 2006 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 11900 Bellaire about 10 p.m. on Friday (August 11).

The identity of the victim is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant D.S. Runyan and Officer S.M. Johnson reported:

The driver of a late-model Toyota 4-Runner was traveling westbound on Bellaire at a high rate of speed. The driver struck a curb, lost control of the vehicle and collided with a tree on the median of the roadway. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. It appears no other vehicles were involved.

The investigation is continuing.
