Traffic Incident at Westpark and Jeanetta

April 22, 2006 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at Westpark and Jeanetta about 2:50 a.m. today (Apr. 22).

The identity of the male victim, in his 20s, is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant D.S. Runyan reported:

The driver of a 1994 Ford Explorer traveling southbound on Jeanetta at a high rate of speed lost control of his vehicle as he attempted to a turn onto Westpark. He collided with a concrete barrier and was pronounced dead at the scene. It appears no other vehicles were involved.

The investigation is continuing.
