Update on Incident at 11505 Keegans Ridge

April 21, 2006 -- A suspect has been arrested and charged in the fatal shooting of a man at 11505 Keegans Ridge on September 1, 2004.

The suspect, Andre Leon Chatman (b/m, DOB: 4-17-75) has been charged with murder in the 208th State District Court. Chatman was already in custody on an unrelated case.

HPD Homicide Division Officers J. Sosa and H.A. Chavez reported:

The victim, Alvaro Ruiz Govea, 24, of 11505 Keegans Ridge #215, was involved in an altercation that escalated into a shooting at his apartment complex. Govea was found lying in a grassy area in the apartment complex with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. At the time of the incident, the suspects were described only as three black males.
