Incident at 2706 West Sam Houston Parkway South
September 14, 2005 -- Houston
police are investigating the fatal shooting of two men at 2706
West Sam Houston Parkway South about 10:35 p.m. on Tuesday (Sept.
13).
The first victim has been identified as Nicholas
Gilbert Munoz, 20, of 2234 Jamara Lane. The identity of the other
male victim, 20, has not been released pending notification to
the next of kin. Both victims suffered a gunshot wound and were
pronounced dead at the scene.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M.K. Peters and
Officer T. Cunningham reported:
According to witnesses, the victims were sitting
inside of their vehicle at the location, which is a self-service
gas station island. An unknown, dark pickup truck pulled up on
the far side of that island and the suspect stepped out and entered
the rear seat of the victims' vehicle. After a few minutes, the
suspect got out of the vehicle and returned briefly to his own
vehicle. The suspect again returned to and entered the rear seat
of the victims' vehicle.
After several more minutes, Munoz quickly got
out of his vehicle and ran towards the gas station door, where
he collapsed. The suspect was then observed exiting Munoz's vehicle,
returning to his truck and fleeing. The second victim was found
dead inside of Munoz's vehicle. Surveillance video obtained from
the business will be examined further as the investigation progresses.
The suspect is only described as a black male
driving a dark colored pickup truck.
