Traffic Incident at 2700 East Freeway
October 29, 2005 -- Houston
police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 2700 East
Freeway on Friday (Oct. 28) about 11:50 p.m.
The identity of the female victim is pending
verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office.
H.P.D. Mobility Incident Management Division
Sergeant D.S. Runyan and Officer D.J. Gutierrez reported:
A male and a female were arguing inside of their
vehicle as it traveled eastbound on the East Freeway. The female
driver struck her male passenger and the male demanded to be let
out of the vehicle. When the female refused to pull over, the
male grabbed the steering wheel forcing the vehicle to the shoulder
of the roadway. The male passenger exited the vehicle followed
by the female driver who exited into a moving lane of traffic.
She was struck by another vehicle, which was also traveling eastbound.
The female was transported to Ben Taub General
Hospital where she was pronounced dead. The male passenger of
the vehicle was arrested on drug related charges. No charges were
filed against the driver of the other vehicle.
The investigation is continuing.
