October 28, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating the fatal stabbing and beating of a female at 215 Latham about 9 a.m. Thursday (Oct. 27).

The identity of the female victim is pending notification to next of kin by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C.T. Mosqueda and Officer L. Benavidez reported:

The landlord of the apartment duplex heard running water coming from a downstairs apartment. After the landlord gained access into the apartment, he noticed the bathroom door open and blood on the floor. Upon looking into the bathtub, he observed a set of feet underneath a rug in the bathtub. He immediately walked out of the apartment and contacted police. Investigators determined the female had been beaten and stabbed several times. The victim lived in the apartment with another person who has not been seen within the past week.
