Traffic Incident at 10200 Kempwood

October 22, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 10200 Kempwood today (Oct. 22) about 2:45 a.m.

The identity of the female victim is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant D.S. Runyan and Officer T.D. Houston reported:

The teenage driver of a late-model pickup truck was traveling westbound on Kempwood at a high rate of speed when she lost control of the vehicle and collided with several trees in the center median. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the vehicle was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital with minor injuries. Alcohol appears to have been a factor in this accident.

The investigation is continuing.
