Traffic Incident at North Freeway at Aldine-Bender

October 5, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident involving a pedestrian at the North Freeway service road and Aldine-Bender about 8:15 a.m.
today (Oct. 5).

The deceased pedestrian is identified as Juan Espinoza, 8. He was transported to an area hospital where he died of his injuries.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant D.R. Hurd and Officer R.E. Newton reported:

According to witnesses, an SUV being driven by Lorinda Cockrell southbound on the North Freeway service road struck Juan as he attempted to cross the roadway at the intersection. Juan was crossing against the "Wait" light and Ms. Cockrell had the green light. No charges have been filed at this time.

The investigation is continuing.
