HPD Officers Partner With Local Church To Donate
Supplies To Tyler County Officials
October 4, 2005 -- Houston Police
Department officers recently traveled to the Tyler County Justice
Center in Livingston, Texas, to deliver two truck loads of water
and food to be used as part of the relief efforts involving residents
of that area affected by Hurricane Rita. The donation was in response
to a request by officials with the Office of Emergency Management
in Tyler County.
The donated supplies were gathered as part of
a joint effort between the Houston Police Department and Pastor
Jim Stern of the Gulf Haven Seventh Day Adventist Church. Both
organizations had food and water that had been stockpiled during
emergency preparations in expectation of the arrival of Hurricane
Rita. " We were glad to provide these resources to our less
fortunate neighbors" said Lieutenant Mike Waterwall of HPD.
The attached photos depict HPD officers, church
personnel, and Tyler County officials involved in this effort
on Thursday, September 29, 2005.
