Traffic Incident at Bissonnet and Southwest Freeway
November 18, 2005 -- One person
dies and 13 others are injured after an accident that occurred
on Friday, November 18, 2005 in the intersection of Bissonnet
and the Southwest Freeway Service road at about 2:45 a.m.
According to the Houston Police Department Mobility
Incident Management Division Officer S. Martinez, a commercial
truck traveling westbound on Bissonnet struck a pick-up truck
traveling southbound on the Southwest Freeway Service road. The
commercial truck flipped over and smashed into a signal light
pole. The pick-up truck rolled over and ejected the occupants.
One of the passengers in the pick-up died and ten others were
transported to the hospital. Three persons in the commercial truck
were also transported to area hospitals.
At this time there are no known witnesses to
the accident and it is uncertain which vehicle ran the red light.
