Update on Incident at 2000 La Branch

May 31, 2005 -- Houston police have arrested the suspect in the fatal stabbing of a man at 2000 La Branch about 5:25 a.m. on Friday (May 27).

The suspect, Dereskey Lashawn Hayden (b/f, DOB 11-17-76), charged with murder in the 232nd District Court, was arrested on Saturday (May 28) in the 6200 block of Overdale.

The deceased male is identified as John Joseph Kimball, 69, of 6330 Cypress Lane North in Maple Grove, MN. He suffered multiple stab wounds.

HPD Homicide Division Officers R.P. Martinez and T.J. McCorvey reported:

Witnesses saw Hayden argue with and then stab Mr. Kimball several times. While he was on the ground, Hayden searched through his pants' pockets. She took the victim's black gym bag and walked away.
