Traffic Incident at Jefferson at Main

May 11, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident on Jefferson at Main about 10:25 p.m. on Tuesday (May 10).

The deceased motorist was identified as Jesse Villarreal, 46, of 1003 Iowa in the city of South Houston.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant G.T. Hall and Officer I.M. Labdi reported:

The deceased motorist was driving a Dodge pickup truck eastbound on Jefferson and ran the red light at Main Street. The truck was struck on the driver's door by a Metro Transit Authority rail train traveling south on Main Street. The train was carrying 12 passengers, four of whom were transported to area hospitals with minor injuries. The driver of the train was not injured.
