Incident at 6800 Avenue F

March 3, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 6800 Avenue F about 7:40 p.m. on Wednesday (Mar. 2).

The victim was identified as Mauricio Vasquez Galindo, 24, of 182 Sgt. Macario Garcia Drive #2. He was shot several times and pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M.K. Peters and Officer A.J. Palos reported:

Galindo was seen standing and talking with two or three other men outside a business at 500 Wayside. A witness then heard their voices get louder and then several gunshots fired. The suspects, described only as two or three Hispanic males in their late 20s to early 30s, were then seen chasing Galindo. After Galindo had fallen to the ground in the 6800 block of Avenue F, one of the suspects stood over him and fired several more shots at him. The suspects then ran from the area.
