Update on Incident at 644 Barringer Lane
July 26, 2005 -- Houston police
have learned the identity of a female suspect fatally shot by
officers after she pointed a weapon at officers at 644 Barringer
Lane about 12:05 a.m. on Monday (July 25).
The Harris County Medical Examiner's office used
fingerprints to positively identify the suspect as Bridget Clare
Dolan (w/f, DOB 5-31-79).
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M.W. McStravick
and Officer I.F. Flores Jr. reported:
League City police officers were pursuing a suspect
in a Dodge pickup truck that was wanted in an aggravated robbery
that occurred in League City. Houston police officers assisted
in the pursuit. The suspect's vehicle stopped in front of an apartment
complex at 644 Barringer Lane and the female suspect fled on foot.
HPD and a League City officer gave chase on foot and caught up
with the suspect who pointed a pistol at the officers. She was
ordered to drop the weapon but refused. HPD Officer K.W. Rogers
and League City Sergeant P.R. Odin fired their weapons striking
the female suspect several times. She was transported to Ben Taub
General Hospital where she was pronounced dead. The officers were
not injured.
Officer Rogers, assigned to the Clear Lake Patrol
Division, was sworn in as an HPD officer in May of 1980.
As is customary, this case is being investigated
by the HPD Homicide and Internal Affairs Divisions and the Harris
County District Attorney's office.
