Traffic Incident at 5700 Gulf Freeway

July 11, 2005 -- A man is killed after being struck by a moving vehicle while attempting to cross the 5700 block of the Gulf Freeway on Sunday, July 10, 2005 around 5:06 p.m.

According to Houston Police Department Mobility Incident Management Division Officer J. Larson, the victim, Pedro Izaguirre was attempting to cross the freeway when he was struck by a large van in the southbound lanes of the Gulf Freeway driven by Jorge Gutierrez.

Gutierrez immediately pulled over and waited for police to arrive. Preliminary evidence indicates that Izaguirre failed to yield to traffic. No charges are expected against Gutierrez.
