Incident at 15226 Poplar Springs Drive

July 3, 2005 -- Houston police are awaiting the results of an autopsy in the death of a newborn girl at 15226 Poplar Springs Dr. about 10 p.m. on Saturday (July 2).

The victim is identified as baby Selmarten of 15226 Poplar Springs Drive. The victim's mother possibly suffered a miscarriage. However, the cause of death is pending an autopsy by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. Howard and Officer I. F. Flores reported:

The victim's mother, who had existing medical problems, gave birth to the baby girl at her residence. Both were immediately transported to Clear Lake Regional Hospital where the infant was pronounced dead.
