Traffic Incident at 15100 US 59

February 24, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 15100 US 59 about 10:30 a.m. today (February 24, 2005).

The identity of the deceased male is pending an autopsy by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office.

HPD Traffic Division Sergeant C.J. Mangano and Officer M.W. Gartman reported:

A 2001 Ford Taurus was traveling north bound on US 59 at a high rate of speed. There were four people in the vehicle when the driver lost control and struck a large light pole. One of the passengers was pronounced dead at the scene while the driver and other two passengers were transported to area hospitals.

The investigation is continuing.
