Incident at 9445 Concourse

February 12, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating the shooting death of a man at 9445 Concourse on Friday, February 11, 2005 about 10:30 p.m.

HPD Homicide Division Investigators A. D. Brown and R. A. Swainson reported:

The suspect, Olanrewaju M. Apantaku (b/m DOB: 04-23-73), approached the victim
Wendell J. Davis as he was driving his vehicle in the parking lot of the apartment complex. Apantaku opened fire on Davis as he came to a stop. After speaking with several witnesses, investigators established that the motive for the shooting was robbery. Davis died at the scene and his wallet was missing from his pants. Apantaku fled the scene but was later apprehended by patrol officers working the area.

Apantaku has been charged with capital murder in the 176th State District Court.

The wallet and the contents that belonged to Davis are still missing. Anyone with additional information regarding this incident is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600.
