Update on Incident at 855 Greens Road #43

February 8, 2005 -- A suspect has been arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 855 Greens Road #43 on September 27, 2004, about 11:30 a.m.

Rafael Antonio Chavez (H/m DOB: 2-8-77) was charged with murder in the 248th
State District Court. The victim, Buster L. Wright, 34, of 855 Greens Road #43 suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant D. Ferguson and Officer B. Harris reported:

Wright was found dead inside his apartment by co-workers when he failed to show up for an appointment.

Chavez was arrested by the Harris County Sheriff's office on September 25, 2004, for an aggravated assault that occurred at 555 Rankin Road. At that location, Chavez shot an employee in the upper body. Firearm evidence recovered in that aggravated assault helped link Chavez to firearm evidence collected by HPD in Mr. Wright's murder.
