Incident at 6333 Windswept #79

December 17, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 6333 Windswept #79 about 4:30 p.m. on Friday (Dec. 16).

The victim is identified as Omar Gutierrez Aviles, 27, of 6663 Windswept #79. He suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R. Torres and Officer S. Straughter reported:

Mr. Aviles was shot inside of his apartment after getting into a confrontation with an unknown number of black male suspects. HFD paramedics arrived on the scene and pronounced his dead.

The suspects are described as black males possibly driving a Ford Explorer.
