Update on Incident at 5401 Rampart #315

August 24, 2005 -- Houston police have learned the identity of a man fatally shot at 5401 Rampart #315 on Saturday, August 20, 2005 about 9:40 p.m. He has been identified as Alejandro Audiffred, 30, of 706 McVey in Sugarland. Charges have also been filed against a suspect in this case.

The suspect, Valentin Castaneda, (H/m, 2-14-73), has been charged with murder in the 248th State District Court and remains at-large. He is accused in the killing of Mr. Audiffred who suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and died at the scene. Castaneda may be driving a 1997, black Dodge Ram 1500 truck bearing Texas License plate 4YYF65.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M.D. Newcomb and Officer N.T. Ruland reported:

Alejandro Audiffred was found laying on the front porch of an apartment. Witnesses reported hearing one gunshot and came out to find the deceased victim.
