August 16, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 6800 Sands Point about 1:15 a.m. on Saturday (Aug. 13).

The victim has been identified as Scott Ryan Story, 26, of 10606 Cook Road. He suffered a gunshot wound to the head and died the following day at Ben Taub General Hospital.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. R. Swaim and Officer A. D. Brown reported:

The victim was driving in the 6800 block of Sands Point when a female, described only as Hispanic, flagged him down. She got into Story's vehicle and they talked for several minutes. Three suspects, described only as young black males, then ran up to the vehicle and attempted to open the driver and passenger doors. One of the suspects produced a gun and shot Story in the head. Story sped away and crashed his vehicle into a fence. The female jumped out of the vehicle and fled with the three male suspects.
