August 7, 2005 -- Houston police
are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 3342 Simmons
today, August 7, 2005.
The deceased victim's identity is pending notification
of next of kin. He suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was
pronounced dead at the scene.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C.W. Howard and
Officer P.T. Yochum reported:
HPD officers responded to a call of a female
who had been shot on the foot in the 3300 block of Holman about
2:40 a.m. After conducting their preliminary investigation on
Holman, the patrol officers went looking for the man who had allegedly
shot the female. The officers went to the man's residence on Simmons
and found him deceased from a gunshot wound to the chest.
The man and woman had argued over a recent break
up and the fact that the woman had found a new boyfriend. The
deceased victim produced a shotgun and threatened to kill the
woman. During a struggle for the shotgun a single shot was fired
and both parties were injured from the same shot. The woman left
the location with an injury to her foot. It was unknown to her
that the man had also been shot. The deceased victim sought help
from friends nearby.
This case will be referred to a Harris County
Grand Jury.
