Traffic Incident at 10300 Westpark

August 6, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 10300 Westpark at Briarpark today (Aug 6) about 3 a.m.

The identity of the male victim, 24, is pending notification to the next of kin.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant D. S. Runyan and Officer D. J. Gutierrez reported:

The driver of a gray Mercury SUV, traveling westbound on Westpark, ran the red light at Westpark and Briarpark striking a black Chevy Impala. The black Chevy rolled over and struck a third vehicle. The driver of the Chevy was ejected and died at the scene.

There were no other injuries.

Charges of intoxication manslaughter are pending against the driver of the Mercury SUV, since alcohol is believed to be a factor in this accident.

The investigation is continuing.
