Incident at 3369 Sunnydale

April 10, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating the murder of a woman found at 3369 Sunnydale on Saturday, April 9, 2005 about 5 p.m.

The identity of the deceased victim and the cause of death are pending an autopsy by the Harris County Medical Examiner's Office.

HPD Homicide Division Officer S.R. Straughter reported:

Neighborhood kids were playing at Scottcrest Park when they noticed a decomposed body in Sims Bayou. The kids informed their mother who called 911. Police arrived at the location and saw the victim. The victim is a black female who was wearing a blue sweat shirt (USA in bold letters and a US flag), gray sweat pants and a tattoo (Winnie) on the left side of her chest. The body appears to have been in the water for several days and she was found with a gunshot wound to the head.
