Houston Police Make a Second Service Call For Teddy
Bears
April 1, 2005 -- KSBJ FM 89.3
Radio hosted a stuffed teddy bear drive for which there was an
overwhelming response from the public. We were able to collect
more than 4,700 bears to give to each Houston police station and
organizations for the children we come into contact with each
day.
On Thursday, March 31, 2005, Jacqueline Pontello
graciously accepted 200 bears on behalf of the Aid to Victims
of Domestic Abuse (AVDA). The agency works to end violence in
families by advocating for the safety and self-determination of
battered women, promoting accountability for men who batter, and
fostering a coordinated community response to domestic violence.
A photo is available of Lieutenant Robert Manzo
and Sergeant Michelle Sandoval, assigned to the Houston Police
Department Public Affairs Division, delivering the teddy bears
to Jacqueline Pontello and staff. Click
