Officer Bui
     12/31/21

He stayed with us for 6 hours yesterday following the passing of our dear mother. He is extremely kind, gentle and warm. Thank you from all of us. Officer Bui is forever in our hearts. Thank you and god bless.

     12/8/21

I did a ride along with Officer Dinh in November. He was very accommodating, allowed me to ask many questions and learn more about the day to day patrol of an officer. He was professional, kind, patient with each incident we attended. He took the time to gather as much information as possible for his reports and treated each incident with respect. He was exemplary in his duties.

I left my purse on water fountain in IAH. I had no ID, phone car keys, or money and I felt I was in shock. I contacted four different airport employees for help but nobody was willing or able to do so. I feel incredibly fortunate to have run into patient, compassionate and helpful people in HPD's Terminal B office. I could not provide most of the info they requested, but after contacting several IAH offices, they worked the most incredible magic! They found my purse and arranged for it to be delivered to me vs. getting hung up in lost and found. I was relieved beyond belief that all valuables were there and that I could drive myself home. I hope there is a way to recognize their actions- it made a HUGE positive impact in my life that I won't forget.

Officer Welch
     12/01/21

On Dec 01, 2021, while driving south on I59 just north of I10 in downtown Houston, I hit an object on the road that caused my right front tire to blow out.

I recently had my left knee replaced and am 78 years old, so not at all agile. I started to change the tire slowly when Officer Welch came to the rescue. He was working a prior incident but came over and called a wrecker and took over changing the tire. This service made me feel save in traffic, He stayed until the tire change was complete and I was safely on my way. Excellent public service.

Officer Esmeralda
     12/01/21

My husband and I were blown away by how Officer Esmeralda handled our situation last night. We had a contractor quit on us without doing any work and has not returned our deposit of $2,000 yet. The contractor seems to have a short temper and I was shaking yesterday after his curse-filled phone call to me and threat to my husband.

The officer calmly listened to our situation and had so much wisdom in how to deal with it. He was very professional and tried to keep the situation peaceful between the contractor and us. It was wonderful! We already had so much respect for the police, but after that experience, we felt an extra amount of protection from our police department. I can't tell you how impressed we were with Officer Esmeralda.

Officer Juarez
     11/29/21

We went to Officer Juarez to report repeated harassments from our neighbor at one of our properties on Sul Ross St. We are a real estate investor couple having 6 properties in Houston but we are still very young and didn't know how to deal with this problem. We were feeling truly harassed and helpless for months. Officer Juarez explained the situation very well in spite of it not being a criminal case yet and advised us on the right course of action. He even registered a basic police report for our safety even though he didn't have to. He offered to help us in any way he could and complimented us on our energy. Getting this kind of treatment from the Houston Police not only comforted us immensely and made us feel protected and safe but my wife also became emotional on getting this reassurance after months of harassment. Officer Juarez went out of his way to help us and for that we will be eternally grateful to him and to the broader Houston Police department as well. This was our first time in the police station but if there are more officers like Mr Juarez, i think we are in great hands!

-I.D.

Sgt. Pierce
     11/13/21

To whom it may concern:
Sergeant Pierce came to my rescue several weeks ago when I had a flat on the 59 elevated close to Minute Maid Park. He was able to block the lane to help keep us safe. He was ready to help with tools and a jack to speedily assist with changing the tire. He's a true blessing to Houston and its citizens.

-C.S.

Officer Bailey
     11/12/21

I wanted to thank Officer Bailey for allowing me to ride along with her on 11/06/21, in Clear Lake City, through the HPD Citizen Police Academy program. I watched her handle difficult situations with kindness and professionalism. I'm glad she is out there protecting us. Thank you very much!

Officer Tran and Officer Kyle.
     11/03/21

Last week, a patient was brought into HCA Clear Lake ED under an EDO in an apparent mental health crisis. The patient was confused, scared and violent coming into the ED. The patient was brought in by two officers, Officer Tran and Officer Kyle. The patient spoke Vietnamese and was able to connect with Officer Tran. Officer Tran was patient, able to de-escalate the patient, and helped transition the patient to trusting our staff to be able to care for him. The officers ensured the ED staff that they would not leave until the patient had calmed down and was not longer a threat to their safety. Though this in itself was amazing to help ensure the patients safety, our staff's safety, and prevent the situation from getting much worse, their compassion for the patient and situation did not stop there. Officer Tran returned to the ED several hours later with the patient's mother. The patient's mother had not seen or spoken to her son in months and was very emotional upon arrival to the ED. Officer Tran explained the behavioral health process for the ED to the patient's mother. During this process, the mother was offered the hospital's interpreter service, but requested to have Officer Tran continue the communication. This shows how much trust there was in the officer. Thank you Officer Tran and Officer Kyle for being real life heroes who make a difference every day.

Officer McMillian
     10/23/21

Working as a Manager on Clinton Drive, I appreciated one of a very good police officer. His name is Officer McMillan. Several times, I called for help to remove multiple trespassers from the property where I am working. Most of the time the officers couldn't find them, but Officer McMilan gave the trespassers a warning with me and Officer McMillan said if he seen this trespassers again on our property, he will take action. The smart officer kept his word. Without my call, he took the trespasser. I appreciate his honesty and responsibility to the community where he is serving. My boss and myself are proud of HPD. THANKS. In addition, we have had five more trespassers leave. Please convey thanks to Officer McMillan and another officers who came to me, from myself and PSO.

Officer Gaona
     10/20/21

I have been trying to get a hold of an accident report for over a month now. I had made numerous calls to see what was going on with the report and wasn't getting much help. Finally, I got the help I needed when I talked to Officer Jamie Gaona over the phone. He found that there was a glitch in the system and was able to get the crash report to me. I think he went above and beyond to help me! Before I spoke with him, I probably had about 25 calls I made to try to resolve this. He really knows what he is doing!! Great Job and thanks again!!

Officer Balcarar
     10/19/21

On the morning of 6/24/21, I was involved in a life-threatening motorcycle accident. I was physically incapacitated and losing consciousness. Twenty four hours later, while recovering from surgery, I found that Officer Balcarar had not only accompanied me to the hospital, but also 100% of my personal property that was scattered across the highway was returned. In one of the most difficult times of my life, realizing that my wallet, phone, watch, etc. was retrieved from the highway and stowed in my backpack for me was invaluable. I actually began to cry realizing how fortunate I was. My family later let me know that Officer Balcarar spoke with them personally on the phone right after the crash and at the hospital to provide crucial details so they knew what was going on and how to find me. I want to give my thanks to Office Balcarar who helped make an awful situation more manageable.

Officer S.M. Jones
     10/18/21

Dear Sir/Madam:

I am writing to say many thanks to Officer S.M. Jones.
We went far and beyond the call duty with a dog barking situation that has been ongoing for the better part of two years. Finally, an officer from HPD (Officer S.M. Jones) came by and was witness to the dog barking...sorry for his hearing (probably lost a little bit of it while he was here). He put himself in our shoes for 45 minutes of which we have been dealing with for 2 years and then some.

He came over to the neighbors and by the grace of GOD they were driving up when he was here. I am so GLAD he educated/informed them of the COH ordnance regarding noise and the laws of enjoyment of peace of quiet. Hopefully, they got the message.

Nonetheless I have scheduled mediation again...with them. A few years back they declined mediation and thus put us in a spot to consult with an attorney regarding pursuing legal action against the neighbor and their barking dog.

Many, Many, Many, THANKS TO OFFICER S.M. JONES for his time, his ears, his patience etc. I truly hope and pray at we can come to a happy medium at the mediation.

Officer Jones you're the BOMB!!!!!

-A.J

Officer E. Callahan
     10/5/21

I was stopped and ticketed from Officer Callahan, with all of the bad raps too many officers around the county and world I want to commend Officer Callahan on his professionalism. A great officer I appreciate him.
-C.B.

Officer P. Henson
     9/30/2021

We greatly appreciate Officer Henson's assistance with recovering our stolen vehicle. In our moment of despair, Officer Henson not only showed compassion and empathy but she also gave us hope and encouragement. We can't say thank you enough! God Bless every one of you serving our community and protecting the innocent. Back the Blue!

Lt. Gibson & Officer T. Nelms
     9/18/2021

Lt. Gibson got the ball rolling again when it seemed to have gotten dropped and Officer Nelms´ deft and diplomatic efforts led to a resolution of this problem that has been plaguing our neighborhood for months. An alarm system used by a local business that was loud enough to wake the dead. Thanks to Officer Nelms' intervention, they have lowered the volume sufficiently that it no longer disturbs my area of the neighborhood. My sleep has not been disturbed for two weeks and counting, and this would not be the case without the effort of these HPD officers to restore peace to our neighborhood. Lt. Gibson’s responsiveness and Officer Nelms' persistence are both worthy of commendation.

- K. F.

Officer Gonzales
     9/7/2021

Officer Gonzales went above and beyond the call of duty helping me safely get off I-10 in busy Houston traffic on a rainy day after an 18-wheeler veered into my lane, sideswiped me, and then drove away. My husband had joined me at the scene before Office Gonzales arrived, but we did not know how we could get my partially disabled car off the freeway and it seemed impossible to get a tow truck to help because of the density of the traffic. Officer Gonzales solved the problem and eased our anxieties in a calm, totally professional manner, leading us in reverse, backward on the shoulder with his lights on and then blocking the exit for us to get off I-10. After he got us to safety, he took all of our information, answered all our many questions thoroughly, and then spoke with the tow truck driver when he arrived as to the best place to take our car. His professionalism was impressive, and his kindness meant the world to us, so we wanted to commend him.

Thank you Officer Gonzales! - C.L. & E.L.

Officer A. Garza and Officer Maldonado
     8/26/2021

On July 6, 2021 at 6:05 p.m., Officer A. Garza and Officer Maldonado responded to a domestic dispute on Park Place Blvd. The HPD camera video was recently released and after watching the outstanding performance of these two officers I had to send this commendation. Officer Maldonado did a great job communicating to his partner and Officer A. Garza’s quick response saved their lives. Great Job. Thank god, you all did not get hurt. Thank you for all you do.

- P. H.

Sgt. Richard
     8/17/2021

I would like to thank you personally for all you do to keep the city of Huston safe. I have always believed that the police have the toughest job in the EMS chain. It is the police who have to be the first ones who enter a DV home; not the paramedics. It is the police I have seen standing between two men who are about to duke it out. The police are truly the bravest people alive. Dealing with people being high on drugs. Some coming after the police with guns and knives and as if that is not enough the police have to deal with people who cannot take responsibility for their actions. The police are very special people to me and I hope that this email brightens your day or whoever's day that might be reading this email. Be safe out there.

- L.K.

Officer Hinijosa & Officer Chen
     8/6/2021

First I want to thank the supervisor for giving me the "ok" for the ride along. I went to other stations and they said ride alongs were "not allowed". Officer Hinijosa at the front desk was especially helpful in getting me set up. I rode with Officer Chen at Midwest for the evening shift. She explained all the details of dealing with calls and the priorities. She answered all my questions about the "ups" and "downs" of policing. It was fascinating and I will bring my experiences back to the my kiddos at Wisdom HS (formerly Lee HS over on Hilcroft). I have a new found respect for everything the police do to protect the community and huge responsibility everyone they carry. It's really astounding. Anyway thanks again and I hope to bring my daughter along if possible and show her the streets of SW Houston.

I do not know the name of the tall officer who responded to my non-emergency call on August 3, at around 8:30 AM. I did not get his name or badge number. I want to thank him because he was so professional and effective. The leasing office manager said the same thing regarding the officer to me. He ended up hand cuffing and taking my upstairs neighbor off the premises.

Please let this officer know that he is much appreciated. I told him that I wish we had more Houston police officers.

Officer Collier
     7/30/2021

I would like to offer a citizen commendation to one of your officers, Officer Collier. Around 5:45am on May 21, 2021 I was driving on 45 North to Intercontinental Airport when I realized I had a flat tire. I immediately exited and pulled up in front of a motorcycle shop. I was very anxious about being stranded in an isolated spot with no help insight. I called highway assistance but was told I should call HPD if I was uncomfortable with the area since they only help motorists who were stranded on the highway. They connected me to HPD and before long Officer Collier pulled up. I felt much better, especially when he said he would change the tire for me. I really wasn’t expecting that but was certainly very appreciative of what this young officer did for me. I am the sister of a retired HPD officer and the Aunt of an active Constable deputy. I want to thank you for training such an amazing young man who came to my rescue that morning.

Sgt. Semmelrock
     7/15/2021

I am Vice President for Synchrony's Special Investigation Team. Over the past several months, our unit has been investigating a large-scale account takeover scheme where unknown actors taking over multiple accounts and were having merchandise shipped to a freight forwarding company located in Houston, TX. The company specializes in shipments to Nigeria. I contacted Sgt. Semmelrock who offered his assistance in the matter. Sgt. Semmelrock was incredibly courteous and attentive in taking our complaint. He was able to coordinate his team and respond to the location and was able to recover numerous packages containing fraudulently obtained merchandise, including jewelry, that would have been shipped overseas if it were not for the efforts of Sgt. Semmelrock and the members of the Houston Police Department. They were not only able to recover the merchandise but were able to develop further information that may help the ongoing investigation. Sgt. Semmelrock 's professionalism and willingness to assist was second to none. I have had the fortunate opportunity to be in law enforcement for 26 years before my current assignment and it is truly an honor to have reached out to him and your department and to receive such incredible service. You and the citizens of Houston are very fortunate to have such a dedicated and hard-working employee!!!

After the Sunday Astros game, they let the kids run the bases. When my 7-year-old grandson finished, he left the field and we were looking for each other. We missed each other and he was up on the main level crying. This officer took him to an office at or near section 112. He got his name and then came back to look for me. I was running all over, trying to find me and very scared. The officer saw me and asked if I was looking for someone. He said that he had found him and he was safe in the office. This meant a lot to me as if I has lost my grandson, I would have never gotten over it.

Officer Salinas & Officer Sawlani
     7/10/21

About six months ago, I dialed 911 to report that my girlfriend’s son had taken our dog. Somehow he was found and arrested in downtown Houston. The two exceptional officers who got our dog back were Salinas and Sawlani. These two officers could have sent our dog straight to the pound. Instead Officer Sawlani took the time to find and locate us. Officer Salinas was caring and kind and loaded our dog up and kept him going until we got there. I salute these officers and thank them from the bottom of my heart. They truly are the faces of exceptional police work.

Sgt. Mosely & Sgt. E. Gonzales
     6/29/2021

I wanted to commend Sgt. Mosley and Sgt. E. Gonzales of the HPD Burglary and Theft Division for returning my laptop safely to me last year after it was lost at our local Kroger. There was video evidence of a man taking my laptop out of the store but no wat to find who he was.

It took several months but Sgt. Mosley went the extra mile to find the suspect. He finally obtained the credit records to ID the individual who took my laptop and how to find him. Sgt. Mosely paid him a visit at home and he still had my laptop. Shortly thereafter, he got it back to me. Sgt. Mosely called me to come pick it up downtown. It was unharmed and in great condition. I had bugged Sgt. Mosely about my laptop incessantly and I am so grateful to have my computer back.

Many thanks to Sgt. Mosely and every in his department for the excellent work they do.

-H.L.

Officer K. Bigger & Sgt. C. Wall
     6/28/2021

I would like to take a minute to thank Officer K. Bigger and Sgt. C. Wall for their extraordinary volunteer service to our neighborhood. This is our 4th year to hold a small neighborhood parade and these gentlemen volunteered their time to come and help our kids safe. The children of Section 5 Timbergrove LOVE seeing the officers and this is the 3rd year that Officer Bigger has volunteered. Thank you so much for all that you do for the kids for the neighborhood. We are so grateful for both of you and look forward to next year.

-C.H.

Officer Perez
     6/26/2021

I was in a traumatic car accident at 2:30 a.m. on 6/26 on Highway 610 and Officer Perez was the first to arrive. He really helped me keep calm in a moment of stress and panic of almost being killed. He was extremely direct helpful, kind, and calm, and that meant the world to me a t that moment because I was literally in tears. If we had more police officers or just people in general such as Officer Perez, I know the world would be a better place. I do not have many encounters with police officers but a few I have had in the past have been somewhat negative, so I am extremely thankful to have Officer Perez in Houston even though I live in Angleton and may never see him again.

-C.A.

Sgt. Mendoza , Sgt. Moses & Officer H. Price
     6/22/2021

On June 22, 2021, Sergeant Mendoza and Sergeant Moses of the HPD Central Station were assigned by their Lieutenant to handle a sensitive complaint against another officer by a member of Houston's gay community. Both sergeants remained non-defensive, poised, and professional during the entire conversation with the citizen. They were tasked with providing appropriate consequences for the officer in question. Both sergeants and their Lieutenant are to be commended for their professionalism and self-restraint. They took the citizen's complaint seriously and investigated the complaints against another officer with professional detachment bringing credit to themselves and the department.

On June 21, 2021, Officer H. Price of Central Station Unit 1A39E investigated a harassment complaint by a member of Houston's gay community. He exhibited professionalism and courtesy during the entire investigation - de-escalating a potentially negative situation and brought credit to himself and the department.

Officer Hernandez and Officer Fuentes
     6/9/2021

This commendation is in regards to the work of Officer Hernandez and Officer Fuentes based at the South-Central Precinct, located at 2202 St. Emanuel St. About 5:15pm on Wednesday 6/9/2021 I was jogging in Hermann Park and observed two dogs laying under a tree. It seemed the dogs were stray and without owners in the park. Concerned this could become a safely issue, I called 911 & 311 to make a report and wait for animal control. Officer Hernandez and Officer Fuentes responded very quickly and were very compassionate in their response to the dogs as well as very patient with them.

Officer Hernandez purchased beef jerky at a convenience store to lure the dogs to their patrol vehicle, while Officer Fuentes walked through the park in sweltering heat to find the dogs with me. Upon locating the dogs, Officer Fuentes was very patient with both of them, particularly one dog who was fearful and resistant to approach. Meanwhile, Officer Hernandez was able to capture the other dog with the lure of beef jerky. I was very impressed with the way in which Officer Hernandez ensured the dog once in the vehicle was safe, and remained with the dog ensuring the AC in the vehicle was on considering the heat of the day. Officer Fuentes was creatively able to gain the trust of the remaining dog and put a leash and collar on the dog with the beef jerky and “belly rubs” which the dog appreciated. However, the dog remained resistant to getting in the vehicle and it took extensive encouragement from both officers to ensure the dog did finally get in the vehicle to wait for animal control.

Officers Hernandez and Fuentes were then so kind to come to my apartment building and return a dog leash borrowed from one of my friends, which goes above and beyond what they were called to Hermann Park to do, and really exemplifies the high regard these two officers have for the community.

I’ve taken the time to prepare this because I know there is extensive focus in the media on police officers and their conduct. I want to highlight the amazing work of Officers Hernandez and Fuentes and the compassionate way they interacted with these dogs during a less than ideal situation. I can’t thank both officers enough, and think their work deserves recognition as their dedication demonstrates excellent training, but also personal commitment to the community and exceptional professionalism.

-B.S.

Officer Duharte
     6/10/2021

Officer Duharte without any doubt went way out of his to assist me and my wife at IAH airport. I discovered I lost my wallet as I was ready to check in for my flight. He stepped in and ask how he could help us. After explaining he started tracking my steps to and inside the airport. Eventually he located my wallet at Thrifty car rental and took me there to retrieve it. He then arranged for us to get through security and then walked us to the gate. We only had five minutes to spare before the flight check in. I just can’t thank him enough and can say that he is one of HPD’s finest. Thank you Officer Enrique Duharte and as they say “You made our Day”.

Officer Brandon
     6/10/2021

At about 2145 on the evening of May 23, I was pulled over by Officer Brandon on W 34th Street. He was the single most pleasant police officer with whom I have ever dealt. I especially liked his wry chuckle when he said "well, I guess we have a difference of opinion here".

I was only briefly in Houston to visit my cousin and help him deal with his car. I'll be back though.

-M. L.

Officer Sawlani
     6/8/2021

To whom it may concern,

I am writing on behalf of the Garden Oaks subdivision. I would like to submit a commendation request for speedy Officer Sawlani.

Since 2018 we have been unsuccessful in petitioning the city council for speed humps. Officer Sawlani recognized the problem of speeding vehicles through our community and solved it despite not receiving help from city council. Our members have given positive feedback after watching officer Sawlani work tirelessly on the the hottest days to stop and ticket countless cars for speeding. Officer Sawlani has instilled a sense of fear into cars that think about wildly driving or speeding through our community.

I only wish that there were more officers like officer Sawlani. I feel that it is necessary to commend outstanding problem solving in our community. I will be contacting our partners with the local news to brief them of officer Sawlani’s actions and the ways in which he helped make our community safer for our children.

Our members will continue to send their positive thoughts as we reach out to the mayor’s office and city council. With many thanks,

-M.G.

Officer D. Wright
     6/1/2021

I would like to commend your colleague Officer D. Wright for graciously spending time with my 7 year old son yesterday. Officer Wright was on duty at the Allen Parkway Police Memorial off Buffalo Bayou Park. Upon being timidly approached by my son, he took him over to his parked police cruiser and let him sit inside for the full tour. To include sirens and lights.

As you may imagine, my son was thrilled no end and was walking on air for the next hour. Please pass him our thanks and appreciation.

Kind regards,
-S.K.

Officer Aponte, Officer Moreno, Officer Fite, Officer Zuniga, & Assistant Chief B. Tien
     5/29/21

On 5-29-21, my husband Lt. R. Montalvo and I were attending 5 pm mass at St. Joseph Church, 1505 Kane. A mentally ill male, identified as Samuel Reynolds, entered the church during the service, smash his guitar against the church floor, and began yelling and screaming that he wanted to hurt himself. Lt. Montalvo and another citizen were able to talk to consumer Reynolds (who was aggressive and exhibited intoxication) eventually leading him to the back of the church, then outside. Officers who responded to the scene were professional, competent, and respectful and determined the consumer was schizophrenic, paranoid, hearing voices, off his medication, and had been consuming alcohol all day. The consumer was transported to NPC. I would also like to recognize Assistant Chief Ban Tien who was responsive and assisted me in getting a unit out to scene. Again, my sincerest thanks to all involved and words cannot describe how proud I am of the Houston Police Department, and all the men and women who serve and protect our city.

-M.M.

Officer C. Grubbs & Officer A. Guerrero
     5/12/21

To whom it may concern,

The purpose of this letter is to recognize Officers C. Grubbs and A. Guerrero for superior performance of their duties while responding to a minor traffic incident on US 59 FWY 5/11/21 at 1727.
My wife and another motorist were involved in a minor collision on US59S on 5/11/21 at 1727. Thankfully, the damage was only to 2 vehicles and there were no serious injuries. Officers Grubbs and Guerrero responded to the scene to assist. Both officers responded in a kind and efficient manner. They helped my wife and the other motorist safely clear the accident scene.
My wife explained that the officers acted with 5-star professionalism throughout the incident. At one point, while exchanging information with the other motorist, my wife accidentally dropped her license onto Fannin Street from above the 59S overpass with no way to retrieve it. While responding to the accident, Officer Guerrero drove to the area where the license was dropped and retrieved it for my wife. Office Guerrero didn’t have to do that, but he did. By doing so, he saved us the stress and hassle of a potential identity theft had someone else recovered the license. That small act was definitely above the call of duty and clearly exemplifies the exceptional character of these 2 officers.
I was so impressed when my wife told me the story of how professional Officers Grubbs and Guerrero were and that they went above and beyond to help retrieve her license that I wanted to write a letter to recognize them. Please pass on our HUGE THANKS to them and their supervisors for a job well done – we really appreciate it!

Sincerely,
-J.W. & C.W.

Officer D. Cox
     5/11/21

Officer Cox and the watch commander on duty were extremely helpful in apprehending a repeat family violence offender from Austin, Texas. The suspect had been traveling back and forth from Austin to Houston to evade apprehension after violating his protective order. Officer Cox helped the victim feel safer and went above and beyond to assist a local victim advocacy group by reclaiming suspects ankle monitor.

Officer Wolfsbane (Austin Police)

Officer M. Charrin
     5/4/21

I am a single mother of a 10 year old son who has intellectual and emotional disturbance disorders. I was in route transporting him to West Oaks Hospital when we arrived in front of the facility and he jumped out the car and ran away. I proceeded to place my car in park and proceed after him on foot but he was unable to catch up once we reached the 6400 block of High Star and Hillcroft. He was no longer visible. So I dispatched the police department via 911 and non-emergency line. After minutes of waiting for assistance, Officer M. Charrin arrived and proceeded to briefly gather more information. She then went on springing right into action and was able to locate my child. She assisted us in getting him help and performing a quick well check. She was remarkable in her level of care and concern which I am deeply grateful. I have faced quite a few obstacles with getting help for my son since his diagnosis which has made me feel alone. Battling his mental and medical health needs and my very own heart condition has been tedious. Yet that day I felt I was not alone. I am thankful and grateful to God for sending Officer M. Charrin, she is such an God Bless- and Thanks Again!

Officer Barajas & Unknown Sgt.
     5/4/21

Officer Barajas and his Sergeant stopped bank fraud in progress by their astute police work and apprehended suspects stealing $9,400 in cash withdrawals from Bank of America branch in Houston using my fraudulent ID. They found the money in hand on the suspects in the parking lot and returned the money to the BOA branch. Suspects have been arrested. Officer Barajas further exemplified outstanding police work by tracking me down in N.J. (on my phone as suspects had my cell phone transferred to them) and calling me late at night reporting this incident. By doing this, I was able to contact the BOA fraud department and all other banks and stop further incidents. In today’s awful time of how police are not respected and treated, thank God we will still have officers who perform their duties above and beyond and are so dedicated to their jobs! I salute both of you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

I called 911 at 12:39 a.m. to report that a person was at the front gate (locked) of the apartment complex of where I live, shaking & rattling the metal gate non-stop. I couldn’t see the person and the shaking continued for close to 10 minutes. The HPD officer (male), who arrived, was courteous, but firm, and stayed until the problem had been resolved. The officer did not react or engage. He calmly and professionally continued to explain to the female tenant why he was there. I appreciate this officer, his service to our community and his professionalism.

Good Afternoon,

I wanted to submit a commendation form but I didn't catch the police officers information. This officer had white male with blonde hair maybe 30s. I believe he might be with South Central substation because the incident took place at the corner of Fannin and Holcombe today, 4/28 at 3:45 pm.

The officer saw that traffic was building and proactively tried to assist the situation when he saw that a driver was stalled at the light. He got out of his car and asked if she had already called a wrecker and then stayed at the scene so that cars knew to go around. He did a great job because I've seen instances where cops would continue on with their day.

If you can give me his name I would love to reach out to him to pass on my commendation.

Thanks,
-A.G.

Officer Lozano
     4/22/21

We have has a lot of parking issues in out neighborhood for years. I finally had to contact my city councilman to put up “NO PARKING ZONE” signs. The reason for that was due to ta fire we had last year in out attic, the fire truck had a heck of a time getting to out street due to all the cars parked right on the corner on both sides of the street. I was put in contact with Officer P. Lozano who works in the area. I just have to say, he is the best thing that happened to our community. Whenever we have issues with parking or anything really, he is quick to respond and always keeps in contact about he handled the situation. I really do appreciate his presence and his dedication to our community. The residents of Gulf Palms community welcome HPD and would really love to see more patrol in our neighborhoods. Thank you for your time and THANK YOU OFFICER LOZANO.

Officer Reeves
     4/19/21

My vehicle was burglarized on the evening of April 19, 2021. When I called it in, the dispatcher said that I would just get a call and could report the incident over the phone. Officer Reeves was in the area and responded to the call even though he did not have to. I know it is a little thing, but I could tell that he really cared about his job and wanted to help. Many people only ever deal with the police on rare occasions and they judge all of law enforcement based on their contact with one or two officers. It is so important that those officers represent their agency in a positive manner. Officer Reeves was extremely polite and professional. We need more officers like him. I am concerned in today's anti-police environment that we are going to lose all of our good officers. We need to do more to show our support for these fine officers like Officer Reeves.

Officer C. Cuervo
     4/4/21

To whom it may concern,

I was involved in a Hit and Run in HPD governing vicinity on 4/4/21. Officer Cuervo reported to the scene. This officer was by far the kindest and most empathetic interaction I've ever had with law enforcement while also being time sensitive and efficient. I commend this officer in not only being a great person, but a great face for HPD.

On Saturday, my husband had an anxiety attack at Minute Maid park during the Astros game. He started to have PTSD flash backs and had to run out of the stadium. Three officers arrived on scene and did an amazing job. My husband said he felt safe, heard and seen by those three officers. They helped de-escalate the situation and kept my husband safe when I could not be there. Over the years, I know there have been people who do not handle these situations well and when I saw HPD was there I was terrified something awful was happening. Those officers were kind, loving and just outstanding on all fronts. I unfortunately did not get their information but I need someone there to know how grateful I am for those individuals. I cried all day being thankful it was them and not someone who didn’t know what to do. They also stayed with me to make sure I was safe which also in the past has not happened. Officer who do the right thing deserve to have that acknowledgement and I want to what I can to make that happen. Just seriously thank you. Yall make a difference.

Officer S. Dalmas
     4/11/21

My son became a victim of identity theft.
The drama started at George Bush International Airport Friday. Officer S. Dalmas was the arresting officer taking custody of my son from the CBP at the E terminal and then transporting him to the Jail at North San Jacinto street. Twenty eight hours after my son was detained all charges were dropped and he walked out of the jail a victim of Identity theft. There are several people whose kindness and consideration of my wife, son, and I should be commended. We would appreciate being able to contact Officer S. Dalmas to thank him and give him the knowledge that are son was in fact innocent.

Thank you!!!

We had a couple officers show up at our house here in Kingwood last week. My daughter’s friend had called and was concerned about her mental health. I’d like to pass along thanks. I’m a big supporter of the men/women in blue and appreciate their efforts. The trip was a bit unnecessary as the ‘issue’ was a bit overstated by the friend, but they handled it well. I’m sure they had other important issues to attend to but they took their time to ensure the situation was safe.

Officer Media & Officer Hernandez
     4/2/21

I had requested a wellness check for my father in Florida and the Pasco County Sheriff’s Department went on the call. I hadn’t heard anything until Officers Medina and Hernandez came to my home to let me know that he had passed away. They were extremely kind. They officered their condolences and asked about my father and were very patient with me as I had difficulty speaking through the tears. I did not expect that delivering this type pf news in person was something police did anymore, especially in a huge city like Houston. Even as they stood at the door, I could tell how much better it was to receive new in that way. Kudos to the Police Department for continuing to include this service. It certainly couldn’t be one of the better parts of their jobs, but I am especially grateful to the officers for their compassion. I will always be grateful for it and I hope that they see my thanks.

Officer J. Wright
     3/28/21

I wanted to take the time to commend this officer for his service today. Long story short, I was discriminated against and bullied by a shop manager and after speaking with the stores corporate office was advised to file a police report for my records when I take this to court.

Officer Wright came out and was extremely respectful, listened to me like my statement mattered, even though it might not have been a very interesting call for him, he still treated me with respect, and understanding while doing his job. Officers like this deserve to be commended for a job well done, because even though this specific incident may have not been a priority to HPD, and I know they have so much more to deal with, Officer Wright treated me and as far as I could see (from outside the shop) he also treated the manager of the store respectful. Please thank him for his duty and service from my family to the city of Houston, I’m honored to have been dispatched him.

Officers (Clear Lake Division)
     3/14/21

My wife and I were awakened at 2:00 in the morning by the sound of broken glass and our alarm going off. My wife called 911 and, within minutes, several squad cars and Houston Police arrived at our home. Fortunately, the broken glass was a picture frame that had fallen and set off the alarm system.

Nevertheless, the quick response and professionalism which the Officers showed made us feel very safe and reassured. We thanked them as they left, but we wanted their superiors to know how impressed we were. We know it's a difficult environment in this day and age for law enforcement, so please pass along our thanks to the team that responded to our incident.

Officer Washington
     3/13/21

I would like to thank Officer Washington for taking the time to engage with my daughter this morning in Meyerland. She saw the officer in his patrol car and waved. He got out, walked over to our car and gave her a Junior Police sticker. She has been over the moon ever since. It was only a few seconds of his time but he made a huge impression. Thank you again Officer Washington for your kindness.

Officer K. Rodas & Officer G. Moran
     3/11/21

Good Morning-
Yesterday around noon I was involved in a motor vehicle accident on I45 south of 610. The two officers who responded and helped me were Officer K. Rodas and Officer G. Moran. I wanted to express my sincere appreciation to those two men for the outstanding service they provided. It was a scary accident for myself and these two Officers, especially Officer Rodas, kept me calm, updated and informed on the process of what was happening. They even waited with me until my wife came to get me from the scene. I want to thank them for being so courteous with me and helping me through this situation.

Sincerely,
- B.C.

Art Acevedo
     3/4/21

Sir, I watched you on Rachel today and was tremendously impressed with everything you had to say regarding the humanity of mask wearing. I truly wish your words could be heard by every single person in America. Perhaps it would help to cut down the level of selfishness we are seeing nationwide. I am immunocompromised (multiple sclerosis) and keenly aware of the high potential of death I would face if I were to become infected with COVID and it makes me both angry and sad when I’m forced to be around those who care nothing for the health and lives of those around them. I have even had to work overnight for this entire year to avoid coming into contact with staff and customers.

So thank you for your very wise words and the best luck to your officers and staff.

-A. T.

Officer Gutierrez
     2/27/2021

Officer Gutierrez listened to my concerns and addressed my neighbors who have a disabled person in their care. They make noise at night causing me not to get a good night’s rest. He did address the neighbors regarding the circumstances about the matter and considering other neighbors such as myself. He did what apartment management failed to do with various months that this has been going on. I want to recognize his efforts in serving the community at its best with due diligence. He is a good example of what good policing can do through active listening skills and professionalism.

Deidra Harris
     2/25/2021

Ms. Harris has shown the utmost professionalism, effectiveness, and dedication in her role. We deal with a large amount of expunctions and agreed orders, but she does a great job processing them. Her work ethic is very commendable and I appreciate all the help she has been.

Officer. A. Ruiz and Lakewood Church night shift
     2/19/2021

I found myself spending a few nights at Lakewood Church to stay warm due to the prolonged power outage. While I didn’t get evert officer’s name, I want to say the ones on the night shift on the third floor of the Lakewood Church went above and beyond. I witnessed them professional deescalate situations with other people on the floor who were clearly stressed. They all seemed open, easy to talk to and made the entire floor safe and friendly.

However, one officer stood out particular to me. Her nametag said “A’ Ruiz”. I just wanted to thank Officer Ruiz for the granola bars, breakfast tacos and water she gave me. I had been living off of protein bars breakfast, lunch, and dinner for a few days until I met her. Officer Ruiz’s warmth and kindness is something I’ll never forget and I even found it inspiring to look on how I can help others in the future.

Officers V. Taylor, J. Garza, K. Hodge, L. Calloway, T. Cunningham, and Sergeant A. Harris
     2/8/2021

Dear Chief Acevedo:
The purpose of this correspondence is to address the conduct of several of your North East Division officers. On February 2, 2021, a seventy-five-year-old black female struck the retainer wall in the 7500 block of Tidwell on the overpass rupturing her front right tire thus disabling her vehicle. She was stranded in a moving lane of traffic, in addition, she was disoriented and confused. Fortunately, Mr. S. of the All Nite Towing service noticed her in distress and called the police to that location. It is my understanding the following Houston Police Officers responded (possibly sequentially) to stand by until the vehicle could be safely removed from the roadway. Since the driver of the vehicle was disoriented she could not give the officers information to contact a relative, neither did she have a cell phone with her. At this point, the officers had no information as to whom would transport her home. As I understand it, the parties involved decided to call her insurance carrier for a responsible party to take care of her.

It was at this point I was contacted by her insurance carrier on a three-way call. I then was informed of the accident and her condition. She was transported to the Northeast station where I gathered her and her groceries from Officer Taylor. I know the officers could have handled this type of call a bit differently, but I’m grateful that they chose not to.

I want to commend these officers and their supervisor for their attention to duty and for going that extra mile to provide my older sister, her aid and comfort until I picked her up. Prior to my retirement, I worked at both Northeast Stations over the years as a sergeant and a lieutenant, and I was impressed that the neighborhood-oriented policing concept is still alive and well. By the way, an honorable mention to Mr. S. of the All Nite Wrecker service as well. They all worked together to ensure that my sister made it through her ordeal safely.

Sincerely,
-A.M., Sr. (Retired Lt.)

Officer E. Reveles
     2/2/2021

I am writing to you about the encounter I had with Officer Eric Reveles.

I live in Upstate NY and in November 2020 Officer Reveles contacted me about an incident my daughter had in Houston Texas, my daughter gave Officer Reveles my phone number instead of hers because she was in danger at that time since she was in a toxic domestic abuse relationship with partner and was afraid of them finding out she spoke to the Police. Officer Reveles told me he needed to speak to about a complaint she filed and he was following up on the complaint. I contacted my daughter and she told me under no circumstance at all do I give any one her phone number since she was in danger from them. I contacted Officer Reveles and told him about the situation my daughter was in at the time so Officer Reveles kept contact with me. I made arrangements to visit Houston on 11/18/2020 to stay for 1 week. Within that week Officer Reveles spoke to her and was able to get an arrest warrant and arrested her partner. The Judge let her partner out on a low bail and a protective order not to contact her in any way or form.

As soon as her partner was released he violated the protective order, contacted her and continued the physical and emotional abuse. Officer Reveles worked diligently and consistently to get another arrest warrant to arrest her partner for violating the protective order and abuse.

I know in my heart that if Officer Reveles didn't take initiative and wasn't so committed to nhelping others and to the duties as an Officer of the law, my daughter would not be with us right now. No one else was able to convey to her the immediate danger she was in and saved her life.

I just want to let you know how thankful my family is that Officer Reveles was the one assigned to her case. He kept us informed and was committed to keeping my daughter out of danger from her partner. I could never Thank him enough and will always remember his kindness, understanding and commitment.

I can not think of how much he did for us without getting emotional.

I'm writing this because I feel he needs to be recognized for his commitment and professionalism and we are comforted knowing we have his support and relentless determination for my daughter’s safety and well being.

He's an asset to the Houston Police Department and we wish him. and his fellow Officers safety and much success in future endeavors.

Thank You.

Officer L. Laureano, Officer Arroyo , Officer Crum and Officer A. Silva
     1/22/2021

My vehicle was stolen from my driveway on Thursday, January 21, 2021 and the incident was reported to HPD. I was devastated. The odds of finding a sporty SUV with autobiography features, seemed impossible. The vehicle had a story-book life: originally purchased by Baseball Hall of Famer, Roger Clemens#22 who put his own special touch on the exterior and interior finishes. A few years later, I bought the vehicle and added another famed family to its title: that of Basketball Hall of Famer, Clyde Drexler#22. On Friday morning, HPD located the vehicle intact on a dead end street across town. I want to commend the HPD officers who utilized their time, technology, expertise, hunches and other resources to track the vehicle and, more importantly, assured that I was safe in the process of reclaiming it and towing it. Our family is grateful and proud of the hard work that our uniformed officers do everyday to make Houstonians feel protected and restored. Thank you so much!!!

Officer Nagelhout
     1/16/2021

My family would like to personally thank Officer Nagelhout for her professionalism and steadfast assistance in locating my daughter. She had been missing from Prairie View, Texas on January 16, 2021 and we as a family were very distraught and concerned due to her being diagnosed with a serious mental illness. We sincerely believe that had it not been for your officer quick thinking and dedication to service, she may have not been found. My family can hope that you really consider commending Officer. S. Nagelhout for being a true example of stellar law enforcement.

Ofc. Charles Dodson
     1/13/2021

My wife and I would like to commend the two officers above for going above and beyond their LEO duties. On the listed date our son was going through a mental health crisis after being gone for nearly one year in Mexico. He was in the process of coming home and missed his flight to Ft. Lauderdale when Ofc. Dodson intervened. Ofc. Dodson was able to assist our son and worked out all the details to get him onto another flight. He spent additional time helping our son and contacted us several times with updates on his condition and status on the flight. Ofc. Dodson was able to see that our son was in crisis and was able to provide a great outcome. Ofc. Dodson and Rodriquez are truly outstanding officers and are an asset to the Houston Police Department. We are truly blessed and thankful that at that time these two officers were there and available to help our son. In these difficult times in our Nation, it is at these times that we stand and affirm that our Police and First Responder are truly the best, and most dedicated to keeping our Nation safe and secure. Thanks again for a job well done and stay safe !

Hi! I just wanted to say thank you. I don't know the officer's name or badge number...sorry about that. I was walking home (Franklin Lofts) from my mechanic's (Sackett, 3730 Leeland) and took a bad fall crossing the street at St. Emanuel and Capital. HPD had a squad car at that intersection (small intersection with pavers...my foot must have caught on a paver...not certain) to help with COVID vaccine traffic to Minute Maid. In any event, I crashed down hitting my head hard on the curb...face covered with blood (looked worse than it was). It was one of those falls that was bad enough that you check for broken bones and such like...and are are embarrassed as well. In any event, the officer jumped out of his car and offered to help. I insisted I was OK but was bleeding and feeling wobbly. He offered to call an ambulance repeatedly and I insisted I was OK. He got a bunch of napkins for the cut (I may have cracked the lateral orbital rim)... and was just wonderfully kind. I walked on home. Not an exciting story. If you know who was assigned to that corner, please thank him for me. Otherwise just know that I greatly appreciated his help and kindness... a great reflection on the HPD.

Assistant Chief L. Satterwhite
     1/2/2021

I was at the Bayou City Eventer Center vaccination clinic on Saturday, January 2, 2021. There was a lot of confusion at 2p.m. as to where you needed to line up and when as the clinic was running behind. It was uncomfortable because everyone was standing very close together with very little ability to social distance – you had 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. appointments arriving even though the clinic was still on 1 p.m. appointments. Officer Satterwhite analyzed the situation and came up with an excellent plan of making announcements via a PA system. That way, you could wait safely in your car until your time was called. I want to thank him for his quick thinking and service to Houston.
