Mariachi Luna Llena, founded in 2013, is Rice University’s premier mariachi ensemble, representing the vibrant traditions of mariachi music for over 10 years. This student-led group brings the rich cultural heritage of mariachi music to life with invaluable support from esteemed Rice faculty members Dr. David Media and Dr. Richard Tapia. From performing the National Anthem at Minute Maid Park for the Houston Astros to competing at the Houston Rodeo, Mariachi Luna Llena has consistently shown its dedication to enlivening celebrations with the rich art of mariachi.
