Case Study Exerpt -- The entire city block was developed by the Will Clayton family. The Main House and Guest House are both hybrid structures of masonry and concrete bearing walls with steel and wood joists and rafters. The grounds now serve as a neighborhood park and as a Southern Heritage Garden of the period: all plants on the site were selected from those available in Houston in the 1920's. The renovation kept the historical structure of the house and maintained the original clay tile structure.
