Neighborhood Center’s main priority is to assist every resident of the Houston area to have the freedom for the opportunity of an education, well-being, and employment. Neighborhood Centers is the largest charitable organization in Texas helping an array of more than 528,000 people each year as well as hosting over 70 service sites. The Neighborhood Centers is bringing together dynamic neighborhoods and the regional economy by improving the quality of life and strengthening undeserved neighborhoods. The Houston-Galveston Area Council is an organization through which local governments examine issues and cooperate in solving area wide problems. The Houston-Galveston Area Council was founded in 1966 and is a region-wide voluntary association of local government in the gulf coast planning region of Texas. The H-GAC service area is 12,500 square miles and incorporates more than 6 million people in south Texas. The H-GAC has a 13-county service region which is expanding and evolving day by day. The H-GAC is creating a local effort to prevent and anticipate problems.
