Slow Streets

With more Houstonians staying at home, walking and biking have increased substantially. To support this, the City of Houston is launching Slow Streets, a pilot project to provide more space for these key activities by limiting certain streets to local traffic only.

The streets in the pilot project include:

  • McKinney from Milby to Dumble
  • Dumble from Polk to Harrisburg

At key intersections, the City has mounted simple, movable barriers that encourage through traffic to take alternate routes. Vehicles travelling to local homes and businesses may continue to access these streets, along with all emergency vehicles. No parking spaces have been removed.

The Eastwood Pilot Project will last for three months (until Labor Day 2020). City staff will continue to meet with community members to gather feedback.
