Houston Police Department officers were dispatched to an Auto Theft where they met with a female witness stating that her boyfriend began acting akward while they were in her black Chevrolet Tahoe. She stated that the suspect repeatedly pointed a pistol at her daughters before kicking them all out of her vehicle. While Officers were collecting information to document the Auto Theft the suspect returned to the location driving the witnesses' vehicle. Once the suspect observed Officers on scene he fled the location. A description for the suspect vehicle was General Broadcasted to officers in the surrounding area. An Officer located the suspect vehicle driving as he accelerated his vehicle running head on into an Officers marked patrol vehicle causing severe front end damage to the patrol vehicle and the black Chevrolet Tahoe. The suspect continued ramming the officer's vehicle back. The Officer placed his vehicle in reverse to create distance from the suspect. The suspect drove his vehicle into the yard of a neighboring house located at the intersection. The suspect exited his vehicle discharging his firearm at the officer. An additional unit arrived and the suspect pointed his firearm in the direction of the arriving officer causing him to discharge his firearm at the suspect. The suspect attempted to flee the location running pointing the pistol in the officers direction and refusing to comply with commands to drop the pistol. Officers discharged their firearms striking the suspect. The suspect was taken into custody. Officer provided emergency medical services to the suspect. The suspect was transported to Ben Taub Hospital but later died from his wounds. The initial officer was transported to Memorial TMC and treated for minor lacerations and possible internal injuries and later released.
