Houston Police Department's Narcotics Division were conducting a multi-agency narcotics investigation. Officers assigned to the Houston Police Department's Highway Interdiction Unit conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle. The vehicle stopped within a gas station parking lot. Officers approached the vehicle and made contact with the suspect, who was the driver of the vehicle. Officers asked the suspect to exit the vehicle. The suspect produced a firearm and fired several shots at the officers, striking one officer. Officers returned fire, striking the suspect several times. The injured officer was transported to the hospital in stable condition. Responding officers provided medical treatment to the suspect. The suspect was transported to the hospital via ambulance and treated for his injuries.
