The suspect went to Home Depot, picked up $936 worth of precious metal without paying. As the suspect was loading the precious metal to his vehicle, an off-duty officer who was working extra job and a Loss Prevention Officer intercepted the suspect and attempted to detain him. The suspect got into his vehicle and reversed the vehicle causing the HPD officer to strike a vehicle and was dragged for 50 feet until the suspect backed into another vehicle. The officer feared for her life as she was being dragged. The officer was able to un-holster her duty weapon and fired it approximately two times at the suspect to end the threat. The suspect put in the vehicle I forward motion and fled the scene. Through investigation, the suspect was developed, arrested and charged.
