While HPD SWAT officers were attempting to affect an arrest, a suspect fired a handgun at least two times at the SWAT officers. One of the SWAT officers defended himself and the other officers on the scene by returning fire, killing the suspect. A second suspect fled the scene but was later apprehended with the help of a canine officer. The suspect was transported back to the original scene where he then became unresponsive and died.
