Houston Police Department officers attempted to stop a motor vehicle driving at a high rate of speed. The officers attempted to approach the vehicle when the vehicle sped away and pursuit ensued. During the pursuit, the suspect vehicle rammed the closest patrol car in an apparent attempt to disable the patrol car or injure the officers. Eventually the suspect vehicle stopped, and 3 suspects exited and attempted to flee on foot. the suspect driving the vehicle pointed a handgun at officers and continued to evade. An officer discharged his duty weapon at the suspect, striking him multiple times. All three suspects were taken into custody without further incident and immediate medical care was provided to the suspect who sustained gunshot wounds. The suspect was transported to the hospital where he is in stable condition. Officers discovered multiple guns on the driver of the vehicle as well as in the truck, along with ski masks. The armed suspect who was driving the vehicle was charged with three counts of Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer and one count of Felony Evading on a Vehicle. The Harris County District Attorney's Office declined charges on the other two suspects at this time and they were released.
