Officer A. Maldonado
Officer A. Maldonado, assigned to the Southeast Patrol Division, received a call of a burglary of a house recently. After arriving at the residence and speaking to the homeowner, he learned that among the articles stolen were a laptop and $2,400 in $100 bills.
Upon further investigation, a neighbor came forward and advised that he had taken a picture of the vehicle the burglary suspects had been in. The picture showed a unique red pickup truck with large wheels. Officer Maldonado distributed this picture to other officers in the area and asked them to be on the lookout for the suspect vehicle.
Officers D. Silva and J. Wallace spotted a pickup matching the description of this suspect vehicle while on routine patrol and conducted a traffic stop at 5000 Telephone Road. They advised Officer Maldonado who made the scene of the traffic stop and observed, in plain view, a laptop matching the description of the one taken in the burglary earlier.
Officer Maldonado brought the victim of the burglary to the scene where he was able to logon to the laptop with his password proving it was his. Officers also found $2,400 in $100 bills in the truck. The two occupants admitted to their role in the burglary.
After reviewing the facts of the case with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, both suspects were charged with burglary of a habitation and taken to jail.
All officers involved demonstrated outstanding performance in quickly locating these suspects leading to their arrest and charge. Great job!
